Our host Anne Peetoom is an independent researcher, videodirector and journalist. She teaches television skills at the masterprogramme of journalism at the University of Groningen.
For years she worked in the heart of Dutch national television news and current affairs (NOS, NTR, Avro). There, she investigated and shot stories on education, health and childcare.
Making difficult matters easy to understand for a broad audience: that has always been her goal in her professional life. She’s in search of little, daily life examples to tell big stories in text, image and sound.
As a speaker at our 2016 edition: The Internet of Toys: who’s in charge? she knows how it feels to stand on the red dot!
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxFryslân, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxFryslân event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized. This independent TEDx event is operated under license from TED.
