Anja Kanters doesn’t mind being a woman in the men’s environment, she is very much herself in all situations, whether she is representing her business on a gala event or among builders in her constructors dungarees. In 1977 she was only 19 years old when she applied for a job at the family business of Donker. Without any job description, she followed her intuition about what needed to be done. She started to lead the company Donkergroen ten years later, became Entrepreneur of the year in 1993. Today her company is 55 times larger than when she started. Leading a family business for 30 years was a journey, to say the least. She started with her gut feeling for what needs to be done to get there.
